AGGRAVATED ASSAULT ON POLICE - 100 BLOCK OF N. HIGHLAND AVE.
1/10/2013 - 12:00:00 PM
1/9/13 @ 12:00 P.M. - WYBPD received a phone call at the station from a resident reporting a wanted subject to be walking in the vicinity of the W. Philadelphia St. and N. Highland Ave. WYBPD immediately responded to that location and located this wanted subject, Julia GENTRY, 22 Y.O.A. B/F, residing in an apartment located within the 100 block of N. Highland Avenue.
WYBPD did verify that GENTRY had an outstanding warrant for Retail Theft charges stemming from a prior incident that was allegedly committed in Springettsbury Township.
GENTRY was located within the 100 block of N. Highland Avenue and was then stopped by WYBPD. After being informed that she was under arrest for the warrant, GENTRY attempted to walk away ignoring commands to stop. GENTRY responded belligerently and then physically as she violently resisted handcuffing attempts, by pushing, shoving, flailing her arms, kicking at and eventually bit an arresting officer's finger with her front teeth creating a puncturing wound causing minor bleeding.
After this brief and violent struggle, GENTRY was successfully handcuffed and placed in the rear of a waiting WYBPD cruiser. GENTRY then began kicking and banging the barriers, windows bars, doors and other areas of the prisoner compartment. During transport GENTRY began spitting inside of the cruiser as well. Due to these violent acts and to prevent damage and injury to herself and police, GENTRY's legs/ankles were also placed in restraints.
GENTRY was eventually transported to Central Booking for processing of her prior arrest warrant and to be arraigned on the new criminal charges stemming from this incident; Two counts of Aggravated Assault on Police and Resisting Arrest.
