SUSPICIOUS ACT(S) - BAILEY MILLS APARTMENT HOUSE
7/13/2013 - 6:00:00 PM

1/13/13 @ 6:00 P.M. - WYBPD was contacted by a concerned relative to a resident of the Bailey Mills Apartments, located within the 1200 block of W. Princess St.

The concerned relative reported that the resident believed that an unknown person had secretly planted hidded "bugs" (electronic listening devices) and video cameras throught the apartment.   This resident also purhcased a "Full Range Detector" and for $20, in hopes of seeking and identifying these hidden listenening devices and cameras.  It was also reported that the device emitted an alarm on specific locations within this apartment.  Additionally, the resident reported other unusual occurences that were believed to be indicative of someone accessing the apartment without permission and unbeknowst to this resident.

WYBPD did respond and inspected the locations pointed out by the resident  that the detector had sounded an alarm on.   No devices were observed or recovered as this device "alarmed" at areas that were solid brick walls or bare plaster walls that exhibited no signs of tampering, cameras or recording devices.

An internet search of this specific model device revealed that the device had received numerous poor ratings for reliability and was referred to a "novelty" or a "toy" that only alarmed around metal such as wall studs and electrical wiring and perfromed more like a "stud finder."

The resident was unsatisfied with the conclussion of the WYBPD that no devices were present.   It was suggested that
she contact and consult with  with a private investigative/security company for a more thorough debugging with more relaible and accurate equipment in hopes of seeking satisfaction.
