MAN STRUCK BY UNATTENDED VEHICLE - 150 S. SUMNER ST.

On 3/26/13 @ 11:25 A.M. - WYBPD radio dispatched to respond to Hoke Mills, located at 150 S. Sumner St. for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.  The pedestrian was to be lying on the street and unconscious.   Medical personnel were also dispatched to this accident.
 
@ 11:27 A.M. - WYBPD arrived on scene and the patrolman conducted an investigation regarding this accident.   It was reported to the patrolman that a vehicle was left running and was then knocked into gear by the owner's pet dog which was unattended by a driver.  This vehicle began to drive away slowly.
 
A Hokes Mill employee, observing that this vehicle was unoccupied and was going to strike a nearby parked vehicle, he attempted to stop this vehicle.  Unfortunately, the employee was unable to stop this runaway vehicle before it collided with a parked truck, sideswiping the parked truck and pinching the employee between both vehicles.  This collision then caused the employee to strike his head, knocking him to the ground and knocking his head with such force that he was left unconscious.   The employee did regain consciousness however was dazed by the impact.   He was then transported to York Hospital by West York Ambulance for further medical evaluation and treatment.
