1/27/2013 - 11:11:00 PM

1/27/13 @ 11:11 P.M. - WYBPD radio dispatched to 1200 block of W. Poplar St, respond to child custody dispute.

@ 11:13 P.M. - WYBPD arrived at scene and began questioning why the mother was attempting to pick her son up so late. The mother, 15 years old, was accompanied by her father. The father was visibly agitated and informed the patrolman that he and his daughter had been trying to get his grandson from the paternal grandmother since 5:00 P.M to which the grandmother would not comply. The patrolman made contact with the grandmother and confirmed the complaintant's claim that she was refusing to give the child back. The patrolman then asked the accused if she had legal paperwork that would give her custody of the child to which she advised no. The paternal grandmother was then informed that she needed to give back the infant and if she did not comply that she would be taken into custody. The patrolman then informed the paternal grandmother that if she was concerned about the welfare of the child that she should contact an attorney as well as YCCYS. The grandmother then retrieved the child and the patrolman handed the child over to his mother.
